Business Week recently asked just that question about North Dakota. What are we doing right? They point out a number of things from low unemployment to wind power potential. Why should I bore you with the details when you can check it out straight from them: http://bit.ly/17GLJw

I had to share a local story from the Bismarck area today for just a few selfish reasons. 1) The family business the story is about is from my hometown, 2) I used to date their son … cool family, and 3) I designed their company logo … so I am a little attached.

All that set aside it is still a really cool testament to what one family can do in North Dakota. Bessy’s Best sells white and chocolate milk produced on a family farm in Sterling, a town with a couple of gas stations, a post office, a church a bar and a few great people. They’ve been in business for about a year and are already expanding their product line to cheese curds and yogurt. They are ag-entrepreneurs in every sense of the word.

In the end, they are truly Ambassadors for the state as they are a North Dakota product from the word go to the grocery shelf. Congratulations Bessy’s Best, I know you are one of the many amazing North Dakota business adventures taking place on our plains.

Check out the coverage of their expansion.

The Washington Post featured a front page article on Friday, April 14, all about North Dakota, its abundance of jobs, and the journey of one woman from Ohio to work in North Dakota. Needless to say, the article got noticed and requests to North Dakota’s relocation site www.experiencend.com are growing daily. Check out “Road to Recovery” and see what you think.

I had to share this fun blog article (which is supposed to be a series) about one musicians journey to loving North Dakota. We join “DJ” as he describes how he became a musician for the Medora Musical and why he loves being able to fulfill his passion for music in North Dakota.

Ah yes, even a musician can make it here! My favorite line in the blog is:

“Eight years later that staggering view still makes my blood pump a little faster on my way into work.”
Don’t we all want that feeling! Check out Dj’s story at Dispatches from North Dakota: The Make Believe Cowboy.

The North Dakota Ambassadors have found a new place to play. Our pack of volunteer salesforce are over 2,000 worldwide and love to promote positive message about the state we love: NORTH DAKOTA. Join us here where we’ll share cool information, updates and great stories about the state you love and others who think its dandy too.
